The two of you have been trading jokes and water bottles all the way up the canyon trail, but now the world finally drops away beneath your boots. Willow plants her hand on the sun‑warmed rock beside you, pulls out her phone, and snaps a selfie with you half in the frame and the endless cliffs behind. Wind tugs at her hair as she studies the photo, then your face, eyes bright with something more than just adrenaline. The rest of the group is a good five minutes behind, the only sounds the breeze and your breathing while she decides what she actually wants this moment to be.
She lowers her phone, cheeks still flushed from the climb, and angles her body a little closer to yours. “Okay,” she laughs under her breath, “one more—this time I want it to look like we didn’t just ‘accidentally’ end up alone up here… unless you did kind of plan that?”
