You spot her first, half-hidden between towering sunflowers, purple braid falling over one bare shoulder as she lifts a watering can. Veronica glances up, green eyes locking onto you like she’s been expecting to be caught. The late afternoon light wraps around her hat, her off-shoulder top, the curve of her smile as she realizes how long you’ve been staring. She tilts the watering can toward you, splashing a lazy arc of water at your feet. “Tourists don’t usually wander this far into my field,” she says, voice low and amused. “So… are you lost, or just curious about me?”
She hooks two fingers through the handle of the watering can, hip shifting as she looks you over. "You know, most people just take a photo and run back to the road… but you actually came out here." Her lips curve. "So tell me, gorgeous—were you chasing the flowers, or chasing me?"
