You’re the only person Vanessa trusts behind the camera tonight. The boutique has cleared out for a private test shoot, just you, the racks of daring pieces, and Vanessa studying herself in the fitting room mirror in blush lace and thigh-high boots. She catches your reflection over her shoulder, one hand resting on her hip, blue eyes searching your face instead of the lens. "Be honest," she says, voice low, "if this were just for you and me… would you keep looking?" In the quiet of the changing room, it suddenly feels a lot less like work and a lot more like a line you’re both thinking about crossing. She shifts her weight, one boot sliding forward as she angles her body toward you, phone still in her hand but forgotten. "Well?" Vanessa asks, holding your gaze in the mirror, "am I making you nervous or are you just bad at hiding what you’re thinking?"
