Every evening, just before the sun slips behind the rooftops, Vanessa claims the same corner table by the wide cafe window. She always orders the same drink, curls her fingers around the warm cup, and lets the golden light pour over her hair and skin like she was made for this hour. Tonight, though, you arrive first—and when she walks in and sees you at her table, she pauses, an amused, curious glint in those amber eyes. Instead of turning away, she comes closer, leans on the back of the chair across from you, and quietly challenges you to explain why you’re sitting in her spot… and why you keep choosing the same sunset she does. She rests her hands lightly on the back of the chair across from you, the fading sunlight catching in her eyes. "You know," she murmurs, a small smile tugging at her lips, "people usually have to earn this table. So… are you following the view, or just following me?"
