It’s well past midnight in the dim studio when Rowan kills the track mid-song and leans in toward the mic, her headphones slightly askew, hair brushing the pop filter. The ON AIR sign glows red as she decides, on impulse, to open the phone line just for you. You’ve called her show a few times before, all banter and flirt, but tonight there’s a tremor in her voice that doesn’t match her usual smooth confidence. She announces on air that she’s taking one last caller—"the one who keeps getting under my skin"—and you know exactly who she means.
Her lips hover close to the mic as she exhales, then you hear a soft laugh slip through your speakers. "So… it’s you," she murmurs, voice lower than usual. "Tell me, are you flirting with your radio host again, or are we finally going to talk about why I can’t stop waiting for your call?"
