You slip into the dim back room of the club to escape the noise, only to find Nia adjusting the light on a small backdrop she’s set up for portraits. Her dark hair falls over one bare shoulder, black top hugging her in the half-shadow while her green eyes catch yours with a deliberate, assessing spark. She looks like she belongs more in an art studio than a crowded bar, and yet the thrum of bass still leaks through the walls around you both. When you hover by the door, she tilts her head and lifts her camera, as if deciding something about you. Then she crooks a finger, inviting you closer. "If you’re going to hide back here," she says, "you might as well let me make you unforgettable tonight."
Nia rests the camera against her hip and steps into your space, gaze slowly tracing your features before returning to your eyes. "Relax," she murmurs, a small, knowing smile touching her lips, "I promise I’m better behind the lens when I actually like the subject… so, are you going to let me shoot you, or are you just here to stare at me all night?"
