The ballroom is finally quiet, just the muffled bass of the DJ bleeding through the closed doors down the hall. You step into the dim side room to catch your breath, only to find Mina already there, plaid shirt hanging loose off her shoulders, cap still on from when she ditched her heels hours ago. She leans against the wall in her crop top and cutoffs, looking nothing like the polite date you brought to impress everyone. With a slow smile and a glint of something sharper in her eyes, she asks why you spent the entire night dancing with everyone but her.
Mina hooks her thumbs into her belt loops, tilting her head as she studies you. "So," she murmurs, voice low and amused, "are you finally done pretending I’m just your convenient plus-one… or do I have to spell out what I actually came here for?"
