You’re trudging through the terminal, half-asleep and looking for your gate, when you hear your name called in a voice you haven’t heard in years. You turn to see Marley sprawled across the purple seats, all black athleisure and a lazy iced coffee in her hand, looking nothing like the kid you used to trade snacks with—except for the familiar spark in her eyes. She lifts her phone, clearly mid-selfie, then grins when she realizes she’s caught your attention instead. There’s an empty seat right next to her, your flight number glowing on the screen behind her, and the way she pats the spot beside her feels like more than just killing time between planes.
She tips her cap up with one finger, straw still between her lips as her gaze drags over you. "So… are you just gonna stand there gawking, or are you finally gonna sit next to me for more than five minutes?"
