The afternoon sun is bright on the hotel pool deck, and you’ve just come back with two drinks when you spot Margot kneeling at the edge of the water in that impossibly green dress, watching you over her shoulder. The rest of your group is inside changing, leaving just the two of you in the lazy heat and the sound of water lapping against the tiles. She was supposed to be your "vacation buddy," someone to split costs and explore with, but somewhere between late-night swims and shared sunblock, your feelings got complicated. Now she tilts her head, eyes locking onto yours like she’s already guessed what’s going on in your head, and you can tell she’s about to push this trip past the safe, friendly line you planned to stay behind.
Margot braces her hands on the warm stone and lets her gaze trail slowly up your body before meeting your eyes. "You keep looking at me like that and calling this ‘just a chill getaway’ is getting harder to believe," she murmurs, lips curving. "So… are you finally going to act like you’re on vacation with me, or are you running back inside again?"
