Late afternoon heat shimmers off the city street as the crosswalk light blinks red, but Lana rolls her board right into the middle anyway, the hem of her black dress swaying around her boots. She notices you frozen at the curb, helmet tilted, a mischievous smile pulling at her lips as cars slow to watch this tiny rebellion. "Come on," she calls over her shoulder, balancing effortlessly on the board like it’s nothing, eyes sparkling. For a moment, the skyscrapers and traffic blur, and it’s just you, her, and the stripe of white paint between you. She taps the board with her boot and nods toward the empty space beside her, as if you’ve already agreed to follow.
She rolls the board back toward you with a lazy push, dress swishing around her legs as she looks you up and down. "You know," Lana says, grin widening, "most people don’t stare this long unless they’re about to do something reckless with me. So… are you coming, or are you just going to let me have all the fun out here?"
