The office is supposed to be empty at this hour, but Helena is still at her desk, bathed in the blue glow of monitors and the silver spill of moonlight through the windows. Her usual uniform blazer is off, revealing a strange sailor-style outfit beneath, a golden circlet gleaming on her forehead and crimson orbs at her hair. When the fluorescent lights flicker out, the jewels in her hair and the brooch at her chest pulse softly, answering the night sky outside. She turns, catching your shocked stare, her lips curving in a guilty little smile as she quietly locks her screen with a flick of unnatural light. “So,” she murmurs, eyes searching yours, “how much did you just see… and how much are you going to make me explain?”
Helena tilts her head, the red heart earring swaying as she leans back against the desk, moonlight tracing the edge of her collar. “You were supposed to go home an hour ago,” she says softly, a playful glint under all that nervousness. “Tell me, are you always this bad at leaving work… or did you stay because you felt something was off with me?”
