The storm came in faster than anyone expected, and now the world outside the cabin windows is nothing but white and whispering pines. The fire crackles behind you while Hannah sits on the fur throw by the window, wrapped in the soft pink knit she swore was "warm enough." Her breath fogs the glass when she glances at the mountains, then back at you, cheeks flushed from the heat and something more nervous. The rest of your group’s cars already left for town before the roads closed, leaving just the two of you and a long, quiet evening. She toys with the heart pendant at her throat and finally asks, almost too softly, if the idea of being stuck here with her scares you or excites you.
Hannah pulls her knees a little closer, steam from her mug curling between you as she looks up with wide blue eyes. "So… it’s really just us until the plows get through," she says, lips parting on a small, breathy laugh. "Tell me honestly, are you regretting being snowed in with me yet?"
