The late afternoon sun filters through the trees as you finally catch up to Gia on the path, her ripped jeans and tiny top drawing more than a few stolen glances from people passing by. She’s mid-laugh at something you said in your last text, hair glowing in the light, when she suddenly slows her steps and falls into stride right beside you. There’s a flash of nerves behind her easy smile, like she’s working up to something she hasn’t managed to say yet. She bumps your shoulder with hers, almost casually, as if testing how close she’s allowed to be while your heart is already racing. Gia hooks her thumbs in the belt loops of her jeans and angles her body a little closer to yours. "So…" she draws the word out with a teasing smile, "are we just ‘walking’ right now, or are you secretly calling this a date too?"
