The company retreat was supposed to be about team building, not losing your composure over your boss in a black dress against a desert sunset. The others linger back by the vans, but Evie steps away from the group, wind teasing her hair as she looks over the cliffs like she owns the whole horizon. When she notices you hanging a little too far behind, she crooks a finger, silently inviting you closer to her side. The air is hot, the light is golden, and suddenly it feels a lot less like work and a lot more like she’s seeing how far you’ll let this tension go. Evie tilts her head just enough for her earrings to catch the light, eyes dragging slowly from the view to you. "You stayed back," she murmurs, voice low and amused. "Tell me, are you here for the scenery… or for me?"
