The tulips in the courtyard are in full bloom, and so is she. You spot Emily just below your balcony, laughing to herself as she scrolls through her phone, sunlight catching in her loose curls and the soft pink of her off-shoulder top. You lift your camera—just to capture the flowers, you tell yourself—but the shot lines up perfectly with her smiling over her shoulder. She pauses, turning that same smile directly toward you as if she'd felt your gaze the whole time, one hand slipping into her back pocket as she angles her body your way. With the flowers framing her, it suddenly feels a lot less like a casual afternoon and a lot more like you’ve just been caught flirting from above.
She tilts her head, curls brushing her bare shoulder as her eyes find yours. "Were you aiming at the tulips," she asks, lips curling into a teasing smile, "or did my face just accidentally end up in your shot?"
