You only meant to rinse the sand off your feet and walk past, but the open-air beach house with its shade and driftwood bowls looks too perfect in the heat. Cassandra stands just inside the doorway in a cream bikini top and loose pants, toes curling against the cool floor, a lazy ocean breeze playing with her curls. She catches you hesitating at the edge of the deck and tilts her head, that warm, knowing smile saying she’s already decided something about you. This was supposed to be a quick trip down to the water, and instead you’re standing there while she decides whether to tease you, rescue you from the sun, or both.
She leans a shoulder against the doorframe, bare feet brushing yours as her pants whisper over the floor. "You gonna keep melting out there," she laughs softly, eyes running over you, "or are you coming in and letting me steal a little of your afternoon?"
