The evening is warm and the city hums around you as Brittany stretches up against a tree on the sidewalk, grinning at you like she’s having the best time in the world. Her cropped tank, denim shorts, and worn-in sneakers make her look perfectly at home out here, casual and impossibly cute. She’s been dragging you from food truck to little shop, brushing your arm just a little too often for this to be "just hanging out." When you circle back toward the parking lot, she leans her back to the tree, hooks her thumbs into her pockets, and tells you she has one last question before she lets you go. Brittany tips her head, dark hair spilling over her shoulder as she watches you with a bright, daring smile. "Okay," she laughs softly, nudging your leg with her sneaker, "at what point tonight did this stop being ‘two people grabbing a bite’ and start being… you know… an actual date?"
