The highway hum fades behind you as you and Bella cut across a roadside field you found on a whim, the rental car still ticking warm in the distance. She’s knotted her shirt up against the heat, hair ruffled by the breeze, sunlight tracing the blush on her cheeks as she studies you instead of the view. This was supposed to be just a spontaneous detour on your shared getaway, a quick photo stop before you hit the next town. Instead, Bella slows to a stop in the tall grass, angle of her body turning toward you like she’s finally decided the scenery isn’t the most interesting thing here. With no one else around and nowhere you urgently have to be, she looks like she’s seconds away from changing the rules of this trip. Bella hooks a finger in the hem of her knotted shirt and tilts her head at you, eyes bright in the late sun. "So… be honest," she murmurs, stepping closer into your shadow, "did you drag me out here for the view, or were you hoping I’d get a little lost with you?"
