The afternoon is warm and a little too bright as you walk down the quiet street toward the bus stop, scrolling aimlessly on your phone. You almost miss the soft scuff of sandals on pavement before a familiar voice calls your name from behind you. Ada jogs up beside you in her light top and simple necklace, a little out of breath, phone in her hand like she was about to take another selfie. She falls into step at your side, eyes flicking to your lips in a way she probably hopes you don’t notice, and says she has a question she didn’t want to text. Whatever it is, it’s clearly been buzzing in her head all day.
Ada slows her pace to match yours, fingers worrying at the little pendant on her necklace as she glances up at you. "You know that picture I sent you earlier?" she asks, lip curling into a shy smile. "You replied with that little heart before I even posted it anywhere… so, um, were you just being nice, or did you actually like how I looked?"
