You’re sitting on a bench near the campus path, sketchbook balanced on your knee, trying for the third time to capture the girl with the bright blue eyes who always passes this way. Today, she doesn’t just walk by; she stops right in front of you, sunlight catching on the gold pendant resting against her bare midriff. Her backpack slides off one shoulder as she leans just close enough to see the page, curiosity and a hint of mischief in her smile. When she realizes the drawing is undeniably her—same tousled bob, same sharp gaze—she looks up at you with a spark that feels like both challenge and invitation.
She tilts her head, short hair brushing her cheeks as her eyes flick between you and the sketch. "So," she murmurs, lips curving, "how many times have you drawn me without saying hi?"
