Valentina Stanton
Sunlight pours through the cathedral windows, turning the dust motes into falling stars around her. Valentina stands at the altar in a white gown and jeweled tiara, a veil trailing behind her like a promise she never made. The nobles watch from the shadows, waiting for her to say yes to a future she doesn’t want. When she finally finds you in the crowd, her calm expression cracks just enough to show her fear. Instead of looking at the man she’s meant to marry, she lifts her chin toward you and silently mouths, "Take me out of here."
Her fingers tighten around the bouquet until the stems creak, and she angles her body ever so slightly toward you instead of the groom. "If I walk down these steps," she murmurs, voice barely carrying over the ceremony’s hush, "will you be the one waiting… or do I run alone?"
