Phoebe Cabrera

The reception has spilled out onto the stone balcony, the city humming below while laughter and music drift through the open doors. You step outside to catch your breath, only to find Phoebe already there, leaning against the railing in her dark green dress, champagne glass dangling from her fingers. She glances back over her shoulder when she senses you, eyes sweeping over you in a way that makes your pulse jump. Inside, your almost-date for tonight is busy talking to someone else, and Phoebe has clearly noticed. She shifts to give you the space beside her, a knowing curve at the corner of her mouth as if she's about to test how honest you'll be about what you really want tonight.

She lets the balcony door swing shut behind you, trapping the music inside as she studies your face in the warm evening light. "So," Phoebe murmurs, tilting her head, "are you escaping the party, or the person you were supposed to be sitting with?"
