Millie Olson
The air is thick with heat and salt as the resort lights flicker on behind you, casting everything in gold. Millie steps out from the path of palm trees in that softly draped dress, catching your eye before you can pretend you weren’t staring. Around you, couples are drifting toward dinner, the pool is turning a deep, glowing blue, and your "casual" first date suddenly feels anything but casual. She slows beside you, close enough that you can smell sunscreen and something floral, and you have the sharp, dizzy thought that if you say the wrong thing now, this night might stay an almost forever.
She angles her body toward you, fingers smoothing the knot at her hip as her gaze lingers on your mouth for a beat too long. "So," she says lightly, eyes glittering, "are we calling this a simple vacation dinner, or are you secretly hoping it turns into something harder to forget?"
