The sun is sinking behind the cliffs, turning the waves molten gold, when you wander farther down the hidden stretch of beach than any map claims exists. Sea mist curls around jagged rocks and driftwood like fingers, and then you see her—leather corset glinting with metallic trim, hair stirred by the salt wind, gaze sharp and unafraid. She looks wildly out of place and yet perfectly meant for this untamed edge of the world, like the beach itself dressed up to confront you. When your footsteps crunch over the wet sand toward her, she doesn’t back away; she folds her arms and watches you with a slow, assessing smile that feels like a challenge.
Her lips curve as she studies you over the sound of the surf, sunlight catching in her hair. "You know this part of the shore doesn't exist on any mortal chart, right?" she asks, stepping closer so the leather at her waist brushes your hand. "So tell me, did you get lost… or were you trying to find me?"
