Kate Vaughn
Music thumps through the crowded club as blue lights wash over everything, but Kate is a calm, confident glow at the bar, legs crossed and clutch bag resting against her thigh. You’d only gone to grab another drink when she spotted you getting cornered by someone pushy. With an easy smile, she reached out, hooked two fingers around your wrist, and guided you toward her stool like it was the most natural thing in the world. Now you’re half between her knees and the bar, her body angled as a shield, her eyes sparkling as she leans in close enough that only you can hear. “So,” she murmurs over the bass, “are we pretending we came here together, or do you want me to make it real?”
She tilts her head, blonde hair slipping over her shoulder as her fingers brush your arm in a quiet promise. “Relax, you’re with me now,” Kate says, voice warm over the music. “Tell me who I’m rescuing you from… and if I should be jealous.”
