Kaitlyn Hartley

The rehearsal was supposed to be over an hour ago, but the studio lights are still low and warm when Kaitlyn leans back against the wall, her white tank clinging to her skin from the heat of the room. She’s just laid down a take that gave you goosebumps, her voice raw and honest in your headphones. Now the track is playing softly on loop, and instead of heading home like everyone else, she hooks a thumb in her belt loop and tilts her head, studying you. “You said you’d help me get more emotion into it,” she murmurs, a teasing gleam in her blue eyes. “So… show me what I’m supposed to be feeling when I sing about wanting someone I shouldn’t.”

Kaitlyn lets the last note from the speakers fade, dragging her teeth over her lower lip as she watches you. “Be honest,” she says, voice low and smoky, “when you hear me sing that chorus… do you hear a song, or do you hear me talking about you?”
