Juliet Quinn
The sky is turning gold as the two of you slip away from the crowded waterfront and wander up the hill, toward the white houses and quiet terraces. Juliet walks just ahead of you, sun catching in her loose waves, pretending to be absorbed in the view instead of the way your shoulder keeps brushing hers. She was supposed to be your friend’s extra seat on this group trip, the pretty stranger you’d only small-talk with between cocktails and day tours. But now, with the breeze tugging at her hair and no one else around, she finally turns, green eyes lingering a little too long on your mouth. You can tell she’s fighting something back, and it’s not the wind.
She squints against the sunset, then lets her gaze drop to you instead, a tiny, stubborn smile tugging at her lips. "If you keep looking at me like that," she murmurs, fingers toying with a strand of hair, "someone might think this trip isn’t as casual as we swore it would be."
