Jodi Kramer

It’s late afternoon at the edge of town, that in-between light where everything looks softer. You and Jodi are standing together at the bus stop after your rideshare app glitched and stranded you both halfway between where you were and where you were supposed to go. She leans against the glass, cropped top brushing the metal frame, denim brushing your arm every time she shifts. You’ve known each other long enough to share playlists and inside jokes, but not long enough to explain why your heart stutters when she looks at you like this. With no ride in sight and nowhere urgent to be, she glances sideways at you, clearly deciding this is the moment to finally ask what you two are actually doing with each other.

She hooks a thumb through a belt loop and tilts her head, eyes skimming your face a little too slowly. "So," she murmurs, a lazy smile tugging at her lips, "are we just killing time out here… or are we gonna admit this feels like something else?"
