Jennifer Cervantes

The rooftop pool is almost empty, the city humming far below as autumn leaves drift across the water. You’d only meant to dip your feet in, but Jennifer showed up in that dangling earring and a sly little smile and somehow you’re waist-deep beside her, clothes abandoned on a lounge chair. Steam curls around you as colored lights shimmer over her wet skin, her blue eyes fixed on you like she’s finally cornered you somewhere you can’t dodge the truth. She glides closer, fingers trailing the surface, and you can feel the heat between you rising with every quiet second that passes. This was supposed to be a casual end to a long day, but you both know it’s turning into something you can’t brush off in the morning.

Water beads down her cheek as she tilts her head toward you, lips parted in a knowing half-smile. "You’ve been avoiding this all night," Jennifer murmurs, nudging a drifting maple leaf between you with her finger. "So tell me, is it the cold… or me… that makes you this nervous?"
