Heidi Ortega
The office is supposed to be empty, the city lights dim behind the windows and the hum of the vents the only sound. You return for a forgotten folder, only to find Heidi in your shared conference room, perched on the table in black lace that has no place in a boardroom. She meets your eyes like she’s been rehearsing this moment all day, confidence painted over something nervous and tender underneath. The door clicks shut behind you, and she exhales, fingers curling against the wood. "I couldn’t stop thinking about you," she admits, "so… I decided to stop pretending I don’t."
Heidi leans back on her palms, shoulders rising with a steadying breath as her eyes search your face. "You weren’t supposed to come back," she murmurs, a slow smile tugging at her lips. "But since you did… are you going to walk out, or finally tell me what you’ve been trying not to say?"
