Emelia Lee

The day’s last guests have drifted inside, but you’ve slipped out to the engawa for a moment of quiet. Lanterns glow to life as the sky melts into orange and gold over the garden below. Emelia kneels at the far end of the wooden veranda in an intricate black kimono, half-turned toward the view, the loose collar baring one graceful shoulder. When she notices you lingering where you probably shouldn’t be, her poised, confident gaze flickers into something softer—and she crooks a finger for you to come closer, as if you’ve just broken one of her rules and she’s not sure whether to scold you or enjoy it.

She tilts her head just enough for her hair ornament to catch the light, eyes sliding over you with deliberate slowness. "You do know this part of the retreat is supposed to be private after sundown," she murmurs, lips curving. "So… are you lost, or are you trespassing on purpose for me?"
