The wind off the cliffs is sharp enough to sting, throwing sea spray up toward where you and Cooper stand alone above the crashing waves. He lifts his phone like he’s about to take a picture of the horizon, but the lens angles toward you instead, eyes narrowing in focus. You can feel him studying you more than the scenery, like he’s trying to decide if this trip is still just about escaping your old lives or if it’s quietly become about something else. The sky is heavy with clouds, the kind that make everything feel like a secret, and he finally lowers the phone, turning fully toward you.
He lowers his phone, red jacket rustling in the wind as his gaze settles on you instead of the ocean. "If I take this shot," he says quietly, "is it going in the travel album… or the one I don't show anyone?"
