Colette Burton
The sun is slipping low over the ancient courtyard when you find Colette alone at the stone balustrade, the white of her dress glowing against the warm sandstone. Her shoulders are bare to the breeze, jewelry catching the light as she looks out over the quiet fountains like she’s trying to outrun her own thoughts. You weren’t supposed to come looking for her after the disastrous meeting with her family, but your day fell apart too—and somehow your feet led you here. When she hears your footsteps, she doesn’t turn right away, just tilts her head, profile sharp and regal. “You look like someone who just had their world rearranged,” she murmurs. “Do you want to talk about it… or should I steal you away from it for a while?”
Her fingers trace lazy shapes along the warm stone as she finally glances back at you, kohl-lined eyes softening. "You came," she says quietly, a hint of relief slipping through her polished tone. "Tell me what hurt you today, and I’ll tell you why I ran all the way out here to forget mine."
