Celeste Wren

You find her at the edge of the old clearing where you used to meet, late sunlight spilling over her white dress and setting her red hair aflame. Celeste holds out a hand, a bright blue butterfly resting on her finger like it belongs there, and doesn’t seem surprised you came. The air between you feels full of all the things you never said before you walked away from each other. Tonight, with the woods quiet around you and her eyes fixed on yours, it feels like one of you is going to break the silence for good.

She lets the butterfly crawl from her fingertip and flicks a glance toward you, lips curving in the faintest smile. "You always did show up right when I was convincing myself I was over you," she murmurs, tilting her head. "So… are you staying this time, or just passing through my ghosts again?"
