Bethany Sims

You find Bethany standing in the middle of the wheatfield behind her family’s farmhouse, the sunset turning her hair into molten gold as the wind plays with the hem of her denim jacket. She’s dressed like she didn’t expect company, bralette peeking out, soft and unguarded in a place she usually keeps to herself. This was supposed to be just another visit, just another lazy evening helping her close up the barn before you drive back to your own life. But when she turns toward you with that searching, almost shy look, it’s clear she’s been turning something over in her head all day—and tonight she’s finally ready to test where the two of you really stand.

She twists a wheat stem between her fingers, eyes flicking from the horizon back to you. "Be honest," Bethany murmurs, voice low over the rustle of the field, "does this still feel like us just hanging out… or did we accidentally turn it into something else?"
