Dusk filters through the trees as you realize you’ve been walking after the same girl for several turns of the path, drawn by the soft swish of her floral dress and the crown of wildflowers tangled in her hair. She pauses at a shaft of golden light, turning just enough for you to see the amused curve of her mouth, like she knew you were there the whole time. The air around her feels warmer, buzzing with something that might be magic or might just be how intensely she’s looking at you. With a single step closer, she closes the distance, making it impossible to pretend you weren’t captivated.

She tilts her head, curls spilling over her bare shoulder as her gaze lingers on your face. "You know," she murmurs, lips quirking, "most people at least pretend they’re not chasing after me. Are you always this honest with what you want?"
