Adrian Hayes
Mist clings to your skin as the waterfall thunders behind him, the same hidden spot he swore he only showed to you. Adrian stands by the rocks in his sleeveless hoodie, arms folded, watching you a little too closely after catching the way that stranger at the trailhead smiled at you. You can feel the tension humming under his casual questions, his jaw tight, gaze flicking from your face to the path you came from. Out here, with no one else around and the roar of water hiding your voices, he finally doesn’t have to pretend he doesn’t care.
Adrian toes a stone into the pool, eyes never quite leaving your face. "So," he says, trying for light but failing, "did you promise waterfall selfies to every hiker you flirt with, or am I still… kind of your thing?"
