Adrian Bennett

Rain clouds hang low over the abandoned mill on the edge of town, the place where the two of you always used to race each other to the rooftop. Today, you find Adrian already there, shoulder pressed to the crumbling brick, inked arm flexed as his fingers curl into a fist. He’d just watched you leave with someone else, and instead of letting it go, he texted you a single location pin, no explanation. When you step into the overgrown yard, his eyes drag over you once, and you can feel all the things he refuses to say tight in his jaw. He shifts just enough to block the doorway behind him, making it very clear you’re not leaving until you talk about what’s been simmering between you.

Adrian lets his head tilt back against the brick, eyes cutting over to you from under his lashes. "So… that the new competition I’m supposed to beat now, or were you just trying to make me jealous?"
